Dania Beach Florida

Engage Us
Dania Beach was the very first city in Broward County and dates back to the 1880’s when the FEC railroad was being constructed. It is located along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean between Fort Lauderdale to the north and Hollywood Beach to the south. With its award-winning "Blue Wave Beaches” Dania Pier, and nature activities including John Lloyd State Park, Dania Beach is a special place to call home. Visit the world-famous Dania Jai Alai in the center of the city's dining and entertainment district. The city was incorporated in 1904 and was named after its first residents, most of whom were Danes. Today it has a population of approximately 30,000 residents. The early years of Dania Beach were marked by prosperous tomato farms. It was known as “The Tomato Capital of the World” from 1910 to the early 1940’s when salt water intrusion into the fields decimated the crops. As the tomato business was declining a new industry began to take hold as antique shops began to appear. Today there are more than 100 antique shops and malls, many of which reside in historical buildings. There are a number of historic architectural styles represented in the city, including Greek Revival with the Dania Bank Building, Mission Revival in the Model Land Company Building, and Art Deco, represented by The Florida Theatre and the Pirates Inn, formerly the Hotel Katherine.
